The Nordic University Hospital Alliance

Five leading Nordic university hospitals have come together to address healthcare challenges transcending national borders in the Nordic University Hospital Alliance.

Stronger together in healthcare

The Nordic University Hospital Alliance (NUHA) is an alliance between the university hospitals in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Reykjavik and Copenhagen.

The alliance was founded to meet the growing demands on healthcare systems: ageing populations, rising numbers of chronic and rare diseases, and higher expectations for quality and sustainability are reshaping healthcare and driving the need for collaboration and innovation.

In NUHA, we share the ambition to strengthen relationships and collaborate strategically to benefit patients — not only in the Nordic region, but across Europe and beyond.

Through this strategic partnership, we strive to promote excellence in healthcare, research and education — sharing best practices, improving patient outcomes and driving innovation across borders.

Vision and mission of NUHA

NUHA’s vision is to add value for patients and the overall healthcare system by addressing the major health challenges of our time and ensuring a sustainable healthcare system in the Nordic countries. This also entails strengthening collaboration in Research & Innovation and promoting Nordic health solutions and health diplomacy.

The mission of NUHA is to deliver better healthcare and improved outcomes by harnessing the collective strengths of the Nordic university hospitals.

NUHA promotes networks between hospitals and facilitates a number of working groups within Patient Care, Education and Research & Innovation.

Representation

At Rigshospitalet, the collaboration is directly linked to the Board of Management. This ensures a strategic and operational focus on cooperation around Benchmarking, Future Health, Rare Diseases and Platform Trials.

Each area brings together multidisciplinary experts from across our member hospitals, promoting shared insights, joint initiatives and innovations that benefit patients across the region and beyond.

Through NUHA, we can shape the future of healthcare together in the Nordic region and beyond, creating value for both patients and the healthcare system.
