Department of Anaesthesiology, Pain and Respiratory Support

​Department of Anaesthesiology, Pain and Respiratory Support provide perioperative and peri-procedural treatment and care for patients undergoing surgical such as elective spine and eye surgery;  respiratory support and multidisciplinary treatment for patients with chronic non-malignant pain. 

​​The Multidisciplinary Pain Center evaluates and treats patients suffering from long-term/chronic non-cancer and cancer pain.​

Staff

The Pain Centre is staffed with doctors, psychologists, social advisor, nurses and secretaries.

Treatment

Concerning long-term/chronic non-cancer pain conditions treatment is based on the biopsychosocial principle.

Education

The pain centre staff is involved in educational act​ivities supplied to all health care personal.

The Pain Centre has taken the initiative to establishment of the SSAI Nordic Education in Advanced Pain Medicine for Anaesthesiologists. For further information contact the secretary consultant Per Sjøgren, MD.​

Furthermore, the Pain Centre is involved in the Nordic Specialist Course in Palliative Medicine. For further information contact consultant Per Sjøgren, MD.​

Research

The Pain Centre is actively involved in research activities concerning subjects within both non-cancer and cancer pain conditions.​
