Guidance for you to take Progesteron before embryo transfer 

You are ready for the embryo transfer and you need to

start with progesterone.

 

The effect of Estradiol and Progesterone

Since your menstruation cycle is not regular you need treatment with estradiol and progesterone. Your endometrium is now ready for progesterone supplement. It will make the endometrium stay thick and ready for the embryo/blastocyst to implant. The progesterone is a vaginal tablet.

 

----- Cyclogest 400 mg x 2 (vaginal) every 12. hours

----- Cyclogest 400 mg x 2 (vaginal) and 400 mg (rectum) every 8. hours

----- Lutinus 100 mg x 3 (vaginal) every 8. hours

----- Lutinus 200 mg x 3 (vaginal) every 8. hours

----- Crinone 90 mg x 2 (vaginal) every 12. hours

You need to start with the first vaginal tablet in the morning.

The tablet can be placed in your vagina with your finger (or the applicator for Lutinus).

 

Side effects

Progesterone can cause side effects and you may experience tender breasts, nausea, tiredness and headache. The hormone Progesterone can also affect the intestines and cause constipation. It is important to drink enough fluid, maybe up to two liters a day.

You will also experience more vaginal discharge and use of a sanitary pad may be necessary.

 

Especially for you:

We need a blood sample to determine if the level of progesterone in your plasma is sufficient before transfer of the embryo/blastocyst.

The blood sample can be taken in the laboratory at Rigshospitalet, it is situated between entrance nr 4 and 5, on weekdays from 7.30.

To get the result of the blood sample you must call the nurses the same day, at 3545 4071, press 2 and then press 2, between 13.30 and 14.00.

 

Transfer will take place between 12:00 and 2:00pm on weekdays,

and between 11:00 and 1:00pm on weekends.
