The Department of Pathology is associated with PhD, bachelor, and master's students, as well as trainee specialists, all of whom are engaged in research within the department.
The department's academic staff have a close research collaboration with other departments at Rigshospitalet, with departments at other hospitals, and with research institutions affiliated with the University of Copenhagen and a wide range of other academic institutions, as well as private biotech and pharmaceutical companies both nationally and internationally.
In the Department of Pathology, our research areas include cancer, transplantation, neuropathology, and diabetes.
The Bartholin Institute
The Bartholin Institute (incl. the Experimental Pathology Unit) is an experimental research unit which researches the application of immunological, biochemical and molecular biological methods as well as mechanisms in cancer. A special section managed by Prof. Karsten Buschard, DMSc, Consultant performs research in the pathogenesis of diabetes.
