Guidance for you, who will take the injection to trigger ovulation
before insemination
Dear
There are now one or more mature follicles in your ovaries, and you must therefore take the ovulation trigger injection.
You must continue your stimulation:
__________ day the __________ to __________ day the __________
where you must take the following every night
__ FSH __________________ __________ IU
__ Other medication __________________ __________
Your ovulation trigger is Ovitrelle 250 micrograms
Ovitrelle is a pre-mixed pen that you adjust before use and inject into the stomach.
You will need to inject the medicine:
__________ day the __________ at __________
You must attend insemination at The Fertility Clinic:
__________ day the __________ at __________
The sperm sample should be delivered to the laboratory on the same day at 8:00-8:15 a.m.
You will find the laboratory in the middle of the hallway on section 4071 at The Fertility Clinic. The semen sample must be made at home if your transportation time is no longer than 2 hours. Remember to keep the semen sample warm by holding it close to the body from the time it is made and until you hand it over to the staff in the laboratory.
Full bladder at insemination
To facilitate insemination, you must have a full bladder. It is therefore important that you do not empty your bladder just before insemination.

After insemination
If the egg has been fertilized and has developed into an early pregnancy, the pregnancy hormone will be measurable in your urine 16 days after insemination.
Therefore, you must take a pregnancy test at home and preferably in the morning since the concentration of the pregnancy hormone will be high in the urine at this timepoint.
Take the pregnancy test:
__________ day the __________
Positive urine hCG:
If the pregnancy test is positive, you must contact the secretariat at The Fertility Clinic and order a blood pregnancy test. The blood test will reveal the level of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) which shows how far along you are in your pregnancy.
If your blood pregnancy test is positive, you will be given an appointment for an early pregnancy scan about 3 weeks later.
You will receive a letter and time for a scan in your e-box.
Your partner is very welcome to join the scan.
Negative urine hCG; If the pregnancy test is negative or if you have had your period, you can contact the secretariat to register for a new treatment.
Important: For many days after your injection with Ovitrelle, traces of hCG can be measured in a pregnancy test. So, it is important that you wait to test until day 16 after your insemination.
Lifestyle
We recommend that you eat a healthy and varied diet and completely avoid alcohol and tobacco. It is important that you take folic acid supplement of 400 micrograms daily.
Recent studies suggests that you should avoid rigorous exercise leading to high heart rate, but you are welcome to exercise to a level where you are able to speak effortlessly without losing your breath. We advise against bathtubs, sea baths and swimming pools in the following days after the insemination, due to a slightly increased risk of infection.
__ Especially for you:
If you are informed that you must take progesterone after your insemination, you should start with:
Vagitorie Cyclogest 400 mg, 1 unit every 12 hours in the vagina (2 units per day)
You must take the first vagitorie in the morning
__________ day on the __________ to (including) the __________
Progesterone:
Progesterone is the natural hormone that supports the lining of the uterus, so it remains thick and receptive to a fertilized egg. The vagitorie is placed high up in the vagina. Progesterone is easily absorbed by the mucous membrane, but you must expect a lot of discharge during the period. Therefore, using sanitary pads can be an advantage.
Side effects: Progesterone can cause side effects in the form of nausea, headache, chest tension and fatigue. Progesterone also affects bowel function, and many experience feeling constipated. It is therefore important that you remember to drink enough water/liquid.
Spotting: If you experience spotting during the period when you are taking progesterone, you must continue the treatment anyway.
