High energy drinks - recipes

Recipes for drinks high in energy.

This recipe booklet is for you who want to boost your diet with homemade high energy and protein drinks.

If your appetite is poor and you can’t manage to eat enough, you can use them to replace a meal or boost your calorie intake between your meals. Often it is easier to drink than eating extra calories. The best thing about making your own drinks is that they usually taste great and you can control the flavor. You can use these recipes as an inspiration.

All recipes provide information about the content of energy, protein and fat. You can add protein powder, if you need more protein (ex. Protifar, Atpro).

The drinks must be stored in the refrigerator and can be used for up to 24 hours. If you use frozen berries, The Food Administration recommends that the berries are boiled for at least one minute to avoid contamination.

Soup thickened with egg

Homemade soups, powdered soups or other packaged soups can be more energy rich when thickened with egg and cream.

Bring the soup to the boiling point and let it cool slightly down before whipping 1 pasteurized egg yolk (½ cup) mixed in 1 dl heavy cream (38 %) into the soup.

The soup can be heated to the boiling point, but must not boil again. You can add soft meatballs, fish balls, boiled fish, etc. to your soup in order to increase the protein content.
