​Thanks to a DKK 4 million donation to BørneRiget from TrygFonden, the hospital is now able to develop “Kroppens Rige” [body realm] – a series of installations where children and their families can play their way to an understanding of the body, disease and clinical examinations while they are in hospital.

​When BørneRiget – Rigshospitalet’s new hospital building for children, young people and expectant mothers – opens its doors in 2025, the hospital’s flexible design will ensure it is able to look after twice as many patients during any epidemics like coronavirus.

Games and other digital experiences will help hospitalized children and adolescents make new friends and improve their hospital experience.

​Rigshospitalet is now investigating the connection between play and health for children and adolescents in hospitals. The research project is supported by a grant from the LEGO Foundation of DKK 4 million.

​A new online platform collects ideas on how to use play in the treatment of children and adolescents. The goal is to help the patients better handle everything from blood tests to long term illnesses.
