Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital’s frontrunner program focuses on ensuring that the different clinical areas collaborate to develop a shared culture in preparation for the opening of Mary Elizabeths Hospital. Participants will learn about change management, project, and process management, and how to use data to drive improvements. They also have the opportunity to test and implement projects in their own departments, gaining hands-on experience in creating integrated patient pathways, partnerships, and a playful culture.
Participation and projects
Participants in the frontrunner program must be employed in an area that will be part of Mary Elizabeths Hospital. All professional groups are welcome if they are interested in contributing to the development of the hospital and wish to be part of an interdisciplinary network. Each participant will work on a project which will be carried out during the training period. The projects focus on areas such as patient improvements, collaboration with patients and families, or new workflows.
Examples of projects:
- Patient-centered improvements across specialties, e.g., patient pathways, transitions from pediatric to adult care, reducing no-shows by offering alternatives, increasing home treatment options, etc.
- Collecting knowledge on existing initiatives across the region that can be spread more widely, e.g., playful approaches, anxiety-reducing techniques, involving children and young people in their treatment, etc.
- Establishing partnerships between healthcare professionals and patients/families, such as introducing shared decision-making, collaboration during hospital stays, etc.
After completing the program, participants will become part of a network facilitated by Mary Elizabeths Hospital. This network supports knowledge sharing and relationship building across specialties and departments. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss experiences, challenges, and successes, to strengthen continuous learning and collaboration. The network also ensures that new knowledge is shared among participants whenever the program content is updated with new insights.
The program runs two groups of participants per year, each with 15-20 participants. By the time Mary Elizabeth's Hospital opens, it is expected that 150-200 participants will have completed the program.
