Our clinical activities include cryopreservation of ovarian and testicular tissue, and we are responsible for the national service of gonadal tissue freezing for fertility preservation in children and young women.

Our laboratory is accredited by the Danish Agency for Patient Safety and the European Commission's Tissue and Cell Directive to process and store both human ovarian and testicular tissues and cells. Our certification includes all steps in the transplant process from donation, to procurement, testing, processing, preservation, storage, and transplantation.

LRB performs around 80 cryopreservations of human ovarian and testicular tissue each year.

To date we are the only centre in Denmark, who are certified by the EU Tissue and Cell Directive to handle and store human ovarian and testicular tissues. Therefore, we serve as the only national core facility for gonadal tissue cryopreservation, and we receive ovarian and testicular tissue from referring centres at the university hospitals in Copenhagen, Odense, and Aarhus.
