The future hospital experience

The future hospital experience focuses on the quality of life for children, teens, and families. At Mary Elizabeth's Hospital, we will integrate safety, participation, play, and innovation to create a holistic treatment that promotes normality and humanity.

Our core narrative for the hospital experience

When children and young people get sick, life changes drastically for them and their families. Everyday life becomes focused on illness, treatment, and logistics, while important daily activities are pushed aside.

Life is put on hold.

Rigshospitalet is already recognized for its world-class healthcare. Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital builds on this foundation to create a hospital experience that prioritizes quality of life as an essential element in the successful treatment of children, teens, and pregnant women.
At Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital, everyone is treated with respect and as a whole person in a supportive environment. Children and teens have the right to feel safe, trusted, and involved, even when they are sick. We focus on keeping life as normal as possible during treatment.

We provide a coherent hospital experience, helping patients and their families before, during, and after their time at the hospital. We combine play, a homely atmosphere, and new digital tools to enhance the treatment process, going beyond what’s usually expected in a hospital.

At Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital, we create new solutions with the help of patients, families, and staff. We learn from the private sector to improve the work environment for healthcare professionals who already make patients feel safe and cared for.

With an ambitious and innovative hospital experience, Rigshospitalet, the Capital Region of Denmark and Ole Kirk’s Fond are setting new standards for future hospitals. We aim to inspire healthcare both national and international.

Mary Elizabeth's Hospital is an innovative organization in constant change, always focused on improvement, both before and after the doors open. It is organized around the needs of patients and families, offering a sense of homely comfort and wide-ranging possibilities.

Living life every day – also when we’re sick.
