Our purpose

Mary Elizabeth's Hospital's Data Powerhouse collects data and knowledge to help prevent the health and socio-economic consequences of illness.

We gather and share nationwide data and insights to strengthen efforts aimed at preventing potential negative health and socio-economic impacts of prolonged illness.

One of the key reasons for establishing the centre is recent international research showing that severe illness and extended hospital stays not only affect patients' health, education, and future employment prospects but also have a significant impact on the lives of their parents, siblings, and partners.

Effective patient care requires efforts that go beyond traditional hospital-based treatment. To ensure that our data work leads to real clinical impact, we include a range of intervention projects based on the insights gained from our data collection. These projects are carried out in close collaboration with relevant clinicians across the country.
