​The Regional Council has established the political monitoring group with the task to oversee the realization of the new construction project and being kept informed about its progress. The group also participates in the exchange of ideas and discusses the project's phase transitions and other key matters before they are presented to the Executive Committee and the Regional Council. The group also monitors that decisions and guidelines set by the Regional Council are followed.

The political monitoring group meets at least twice a year throughout the project's duration.​
