Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce high resolution 3D images of the brain.
At the DCPR we use 3 Tesla MRI imaging to generate structural images as well as to measure brain activity and blood flow both during and after psychedelic administration. This can inform how these drugs produce profound changes in consciousness that can tell us more about the nature of everyday waking consciousness. Additionally, by observing long term changes in brain function we can begin to see what lasting effects psychedelics have on brain function.
