Head of Laboratory: Stine Gry Kristensen, Senior Scientist
Dr. Stine Gry Kristensen is Senior Scientist and head of the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology at the University Hospital of Copenhagen in Denmark. She has a Master of Science in Biology and a Ph.D. in Health and Medical Science from the University of Copenhagen. Her primary area of interest is fertility preservation in girls and young women, and she have extensive experience with cryopreservation of human ovarian tissue being part of the Danish Fertility Preservation Program for more than 15 years. Current positions include basic science officer in the ESHRE SIG on Fertility Preservation and Executive Board member of ReproUnion.
Dr. Kristensen’s research is focused on human follicle development and the regulatory mechanisms underlying early folliculogenesis, development of 3D culture systems for isolated follicles, and optimizing follicle survival in transplanted frozen-thawed ovarian tissue.

Jesús Cadenas, Senior Scientist
Dr. Jesús Cadenas is one of our Senior Scientists, here at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology. His research focuses on advancing our understanding of the regulation of human oocyte maturation and developing a platform able to efficiently sustain human oocyte maturation in vitro (known as IVM) using immature oocytes retrieved from the surplus ovarian medulla tissue of patients having ovarian tissue cryopreserved for fertility preservation. Also, he is involved in developing culture systems for human preantral follicles aiming to reproduce ovarian function in vitro, including the production of competent oocytes and continued hormone production.

Tanni Borgbo, Senior Scientist.
Dr. Tanni Borgbo is one of our Senior Scientists at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology.
Tanni completed her Ph.D. at LRB from 2013 to 2016 in collaboration with Aarhus University.
Tanni’s research focuses on how genetic and epigenetic factors influence female reproductive health.
She is the founder of project UNCOVER Endometriosis, a translational research project aiming to develop a simple and minimally invasive diagnostic test for endometriosis, with the long-term goal of enabling earlier and more accessible diagnosis of endometriosis.

Søren Ziebe, Senior Scientist
Dr. Søren Ziebe is one of our Senior Scientists at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology. Søren has been affiliated with the Fertility Department at the University Hospital of Copenhagen since 1995 and joined us in 2023. He is a Professor at the medical Faculty at the University of Copenhagen and has a Ph.D. from the University of Copenhagen. Søren is very active in the informational campaign “Fertility Awareness,” which aims to create more focus on the natural fertile lifespan in humans.

Cristina Subirán Adrados, Post Doc. researcher
Dr. Cristina Subirán Adrados is a postdoc at the Laboratory for Reproductive Biology. She has been part of the team since 2020, where she joined to work on her PhD in reproductive science as part of the EU MSCA-ETN consortium EUROVA. Cristina has a background in biotechnology from the University of Barcelona and a Master’s in Regenerative Medicine from the Technical University of Dresden. In the lab, she’s involved in both basic and clinical research, focusing mainly on ovarian physiology, in vitro culture of human follicles, and ovarian tissue transplantation.

Lea Bejstrup Jensen, Biologist
Lea Bejstrup Jensen is a cell biologist at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. She has several years of experience working as an em-bryologist in IVF laboratories and is part of the cryopreservation team within the Danish Fertili-ty Preservation Program. Lea holds a Master’s degree in Cell Biology and Physiology from the University of Copenhagen and obtained her Ph.D. in Reproductive Biology in July 2026 with the Ph.D. thesis titled “Human Ovarian Follicular Cells In Vitro: Regulation During Lutein-ization and Implications for Cell-Based Hormone Replacement Therapy.”Her research focused on ovarian biology, steroidogenesis, and the regulation and differentia-tion of human ovarian follicular cells.

Anna Ronnefeld Veng, Research Assistant
Anna joined the laboratory in November 2024 to conduct her MSc thesis in Molecular Bio-medicine. Her work focuses on the regulation of human oocyte maturation and the develop-ment and optimisation of in vitro maturation (IVM) systems, as well as supporting the clinical implementation of IVM at Rigshospitalet. She is also involved in projects investigating human and bovine follicle and oocyte biology, including the development of in vitro follicle culture systems. Her broader research interests centre on advancing fertility treatments, women’s reproductive health, and fertility awareness.

Cecilie Holm Jæger, PhD. Student
Cecilie is a Ph.D. fellow at the Laboratory of Reproductive Biology. She joined the laboratory in April 2025 to conduct her MSc thesis in Human Biology. Her Ph.D. focuses on the in-volvement of RANKL in female fertility, with a particular focus on its role in ovarian function and reproductive processes. She is also part of the clinical cryopreservation team and con-tributes to the Danish Fertility Preservation Program.
Her broader research interests centre on female reproductive health, fertility preservation, and female reproductive diseases, including endometriosis, and their impact on fertility. Her Ph.D. grant is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and she plans to hand in her thesis in early 2029.
