The unit for the sense of taste and smell examines people with reduced sense of smell and taste, regardless of the underlying cause (e.g. spontaneous, post-infectious (including after COVID19 and influenza), suffering from another disease (including chronic sinusitis inflammation, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, cancer), after surgery/chemo/radiotherapy, congenital, trauma, occupational injury).
The Unit performs- Extended smell and taste studies
- Relevant scans (CT, MRI)
- Clinical examination, incl. endoscopy of the nasal sinuses and the olfactory mucosa
- Relevant medical treatment
- Retraining the sense of smell
- Information on prevention
- Information about how to cope in everyday life when you suffer from a reduced sense of smell or taste
- Possibility of participation in scientific research projects
- We examine both children and adults
- The patient must be referred by an ear-nose-throat doctor in private practice or another hospital department
