“PAIR” Partners of people with inflammatory arthritis – moving towards partner inclusion and support
Project description
Charlotte Werdal Hansen focuses on self-management of inflammatory arthritis from a family perspective, with a special focus on partners. We know now that inflammatory arthritis does not only affect the lives of the patient, but the whole family. We also know that especially partners play a significant supportive role in the patients management of IA. Furthermore, we know that both patients and their partners want the healthcare professionals to have a family approach. During her Ph.D., Charlotte will therefore develop a nurse led consultation were the nurse will strive to support couples in managing IA, with the purpose of improving the couples quality of life. Congruently she will test the consultations feasibility.

Long-term studies in patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases: investigating the consequences of single or multiple biosimilar switches on treatment effectiveness, drug safety, patient-reported outcomes and health-economy
Project description
Denmark has extensive use of the biological (bDMARD) biosimilar products in routine care. Based on national guidelines, mandatory switch procedures from originator to biosimilar bDMARDs and between biosimilars are implemented routinely to save medication costs. Thus, several thousand patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases are switched to new biosimilars each year. Currently, the evidence supporting this practice is limited. A biosimilar drug is a highly similar, but not identical, version of the originator biological. Due to their complexity, biosimilars are susceptible to structural alterations that could potentially affect both efficacy and safety. Data from the few existing trials cannot be generalized to other originator-biosimilar combinations.
In her PhD project, Hafsah Nabi investigates the consequences of mandatory single or multiple biosimilar switches in routine care focusing on treatment effectiveness, drug safety, patient-reported outcomes and health-economy, mainly related to adalimumab and infliximab. The project is based on prospectively collected data from the Danish nationwide rheumatological clinical registry, DANBIO, linked with relevant national registries for information regarding comorbidities, vital status etc. This provides a unique opportunity for high-quality post-marketing pharmacovigilance studies of biological drugs used in the treatment of patients with inflammatory arthritis.

Project description
Zohra Ahmadzay focuses on comorbidities and lifestyle factors in patients with psoriatic arthritis.
During her PhD, she will investigate the impact comorbidities and lifestyle factors may have on the treatment outcomes in patients with psoriatic arthritis treated with biological drugs. She will conduct observational studies based on data retrieved from European quality registries participating in the European Spondyloarthritis Research Collaboration Network (EuroSpA RCN) and also with the Danish DANIO registry linked to Danish national registries.
