Protection and Restoration of Brain Function (Neu-roplasticity)

We conduct research on biological markers that can help map the mechanisms that either worsen or improve the consequences of injury to the brain or spinal cord. Through our research, we aim to identify new treatment approaches that can reduce long-term effects and optimize the functions of brain cells.

​​PhD Project: A Potential New Treatment Mechanism in Traumatic Brain Injury

Physician and PhD student Daniel Roger Baddoo is conducting the Save the Brain project, which investigates inflammatory biomarkers in blood and cerebrospinal fluid to gain a better understanding of how the brain is affected after traumatic brain injury (TBI). In addition, he is testing whether the drug Xyrem (GHB) can protect the brain, reduce neuroinflammation, and improve rehabilitation outcomes for TBI patients.
