NeuroGenomics

​We are a specialized genetics and genomics research group, dedicated to unraveling the complexities of the human genome and its role in neurological disorders. Utilizing a systems biology approach, we strive to understand the disease mechanisms underlying neurological conditions. Our research is further enhanced by our commitment to translational approaches, with the ultimate aim of advancing precision medicine in the field of neurology. Based at Rigshospitalet-Glostrup in the translational researcher Glostrup research park, our team collaborates closely with the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Center (DMSC), the Danish Headache Cente (DHC) and NovoNordic Center for protein research  (Copenhagen University)

​​Main Researh Areas​

Neurogenomics

Our primary focus is on neurogenomics research, where we leverage our expertise in genetics, genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. This includes using multiomics approaches and machine learning methods. We are currently utilizing nanopore technology to advance our understanding of Intracranial Hypertension, Migraine, Epilepsy, and Multiple Sclerosis.

Headache Research

As part of the DHC, we conduct extensive research on different types of headaches. Our work spans Genome-wide association analysis of cluster headache, migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathies, headache resilience, treatment response, and neurological disease trajectories. We work closely with our research colleagues at Glostrup Research Park, assisting with biostatistic and bioinformatic analyses on human and animal experimental headache models, as well as more epidemiologically driven approaches for improving phenotype assessment, e.g., diagnostic criteria.

Multiple Sclerosis Research

As part of the DMSC, we connect treatment outcomes with genetic data at the molecular level, using Big Data to identify, for example, disease trajectories. Furthermore, the utilization of nanopore technology is a joint venture, exploiting the extensive existing laboratory knowledge in DMSC.

Translational Research

Our group is physically based in a translational and basic research facility called “Research Park” in Glostrup. This setup facilitates a highly functional translational research environment that ensures disease/clinically relevant research.

Academic Collaboration

Through our university affiliation, we maintain a strong connection with the academic environment, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. This includes international collaboration, and the group is part of CCG and IHGC, and nationally DBDS and CHB.
