In close collaboration with local, national, and international partners, our research aims to advance neurorehabilitation and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families. Combining well-established and new advanced technologies we seek insights into understanding and alleviating the course and consequence of brain and spinal cord Injuries for patients and their families.
Main research areas
We focus on advancing neurorehabilitation in brain and spinal cord injury through translational, multidisciplinary, and cross-sectional collaborations applying new technologies and building evidence in treatment and care.
Our research areas include epidemiology, pathophysiology, neuro recovery, and neurorehabilitation in:

- Stroke and Neurovascular Disease
We are establishing an open living lab where clinicians, researchers, tech specialists, and end-users (healthcare staff, patients, and relatives) collaborate to develop, test, and refine new technologies, treatments, services, or solutions from injury to home. This approach will contribute to a basic understanding of dysfunctional neuronal networks and emphasize user-centered research in the treatment, monitoring, and training of deficits following neuro injury.
The research group currently addresses the intensity and timing of mobilization and physical interventions post-injury, how robotics may assist in training, and how to identify new treatment targets to improve neuro recovery and post-injury complications.
Collaborating on detecting and modulating changes in neuronal networks post-injury by combining neuroimaging and neurostimulation techniques we seek to provide personalized rehabilitation.
In addition to the clinical investigations, we work with bench-to-bedside translational research to identify new biomarkers for prognosis, treatment effects, and treatment targets implementable in daily clinical practice.
