Engelholm Group

Our research group aims to dissect and harness the underlying molecular mechanisms of cancer progression, focusing on antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and the critical role of specific cell types in the pathology of liver fibrosis.

Research Vision

Our research group is pioneering the development of next-generation therapies to combat cancer and fibrosis through innovative targeting strategies. We aim to dissect and harness the underlying molecular mechanisms of disease progression, focusing on antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and the critical role of specific cell types in the pathology of liver fibrosis.

By leveraging advanced genetic models and targeting key cellular receptors, our objective is to elucidate their involvement in disease mechanisms, paving the way for novel treatments. Our vision is to translate our fundamental research into clinically relevant solutions, offering hope for improved patient outcomes in cancer and fibrotic diseases.

Research Focus

To address our overall research vision, the overarching goals are to:

  • Developing antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for advanced cancer treatment strategies, focusing on innovative targeting to improve therapeutic efficacy.

  • Investigating the role of specific cell receptors in liver fibrosis, aiming to uncover new approaches to disease management and treatment.

  • Utilizing genetic models to deplete targeted cell types, enabling detailed study of their role in cancer and fibrosis progression.

  • Exploring the impact of specific cell types in disease mechanisms, particularly their contribution to the development and resolution of fibrosis.

  • Advancing our understanding of disease pathology through targeted research on cellular communication and interaction in fibrotic and cancerous conditions.
