​Research in The Department of Neurophysiology concentrates on causes and mechanisms of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, including sleep disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders, physical lesions of the peripheral nerve and muscle disorders.​

Research in ​The Department of Neurophysiology concentrates on causes and mechanisms of disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, including sleep disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders, physical lesions of the peripheral nerve and muscle disorders. Thus, we can improve diagnostics and treatment. We wish to improve our abilities to diagnose, monitor and prognosticate nerve disorders. 

We perform our studies using a wide range of techniques such as clinical and experimental electrophysiology, molecular biology and genetics, ultrasound and microscopy and modern diagnostic imaging methods. 

Main research areas

Our researchers are involved in regional, national and international projects in studies of regeneration and degeneration of peripheral nerve and muscle disorders, blood flow control and blood-brain barrier, brain aging and biological treatment of nerve disorders. We cooperate with many partners making it possible to examine the research problems carefully.
