The Clinical Trials Unit for Children and Adolescents with Cancer

​Paediatric haematology and oncology with a special focus on tumours of the central nervous system and early phase clinical trials for all types of cancer in children and adolescents.

The unit has three closely related activities:

  • The Danish phase 1-2 Clinical Trials Unit for Children and Adolescents with Cancer, which is a member of the ITCC consortium and has ITCC Early Phase Accreditation
  • The Danish National Clinical Trials Unit for Children and Adolescents with cancer, which supports opening, conducting, updating, and closing of all clinical trials for newly diagnosed children with cancer in Denmark, supported by a generous grant from the Danish Childhood Cancer Foundation to the Danish multidisciplinary working group for children and adolescents with cancer (DAPHO)
  • The Clinical Trials Unit supports the conduct of all clinical trials for children and adolescents with cancer at Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Rigshospitalet.

 Current team members

  • Karsten Nysom, Senior Consultant, MD, PhD
  • 2,5 senior consultants (subspecialists in paediatric haematology and oncology)
  • 1 drug development fellow (paediatric haematology and oncology trainee)
  • 9 study nurses who also works as study coordinators, including one lead study nurse.
  • 2 regulatory specialists
  • 1 research coordinator
  • 1 research secretary
