Private patients

Regrettably Rigshospitalet does not have the necessary capacity to offer treatment to private and/or foreign patients, even if they are willing to pay for their treatment themselves.

Note that according to the EU convention hospitals are not obligated to do so either, unless:

  1. the patient is sent here directly by the patient's general practitioner,
  2. the patient's own region of residence cannot offer timely treatment or within the normal waiting period,
  3. the patient's region of residence is prepared to refund the expenses for treatment in Denmark.
