Collaboration with Skåne University Hospital

With a shared ambition to strengthen collaboration and work strategically for the benefit of patients in both Denmark and Sweden, Skåne University Hospital and Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital, have established a strategic partnership.

About the Collaboration

A Memorandum of Understanding between the two hospitals provides a shared, long‑term framework that strengthens cross‑border collaboration and supports health innovation across the Oresund Region.

The agreement builds on several existing research and clinical collaborations and establishes a shared foundation for expanding clinical studies and data sharing. This strengthens the hospitals' ability to reach a broader patient population, support larger clinical trials, and speed up the translation of research findings into clinical practice.

Vision and Mission

Faster path from research to treatment
The collaboration aims to shorten the path from research to clinical application while building strong, long‑term professional networks at both strategic and clinical levels across the two hospitals.

Key Areas

The partnership focuses on strengthening collaboration within:

  1. Clinical studies
  2. Cancer
  3. Cell and gene therapy

These areas form the initial tracks for deeper cooperation and support the overall ambition of bringing new treatments to patients more quickly.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on March 11th 2026.
