UNI5
An alliance between 5 university hospitals across Denmark, to strengthen relations, collaborate to solve healthcare challenges, and develop patient treatment.
In a collective move to enhance healthcare quality and innovation, the largest university hospitals in Denmark's five regions have joined forces under the strategic partnership known as Uni5. This collaboration aims to unify efforts across regions, ensuring that specialized medical expertise, research, and education benefit patients nationwide.
The Five University Hospitals
UNI5 consists of 5 university hospitals across Denmark:
- Rigshospitalet – Copenhagen University Hospital
- Aarhus University Hospital
- Odense University Hospital
- Aalborg University Hospital
- Zealand University Hospital
Together, these institutions represent the alliance aiming to enhance medical research and treatment in Denmark. Through its role as a highly specialised hospital, the vision for Rigshospitalet is to benefit the individual patient and the Danish healthcare system as a whole, and therefore this alliance carries special weight. The alliance allows for cross-regional healthcare initiatives and provides an ideal platform for fostering collaboration over competition for Danish Hospitals.
The collaboration
Uni5 is designed to break down regional silos and foster a national approach to healthcare excellence. This relational partnership aims to strengthen collaboration across hospitals to address shared operational challenges and promote a more sustainable healthcare system.
The alliance's first major initiative targets the elimination of treatments and procedures that do not provide value to patients, both enhancing the value of care and creating a more economically sustainable healthcare system. The alliance also focuses on hospital leadership, investigating possibilities to promote collaboration over competition through management.
