Studies on genetics and environmental factors in MS. These include large-scale international genetic association studies and establishment of the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Biobank located at the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Research Center (DMSC). MD, PhD, Consultant

Areas of research:
Investigator-driven research on the effects of erythropoietin on disability and pathology assessed with MRI in MS. Investigator in clinical treatment trial using alemtuzumab in MS.

Ana Voldsgaard
MD, Staff Neurologist

Areas of research:
Research on the use of Trichuris suis (pig whipworm) ova therapy in relapsing MS. Helminths are parasitic worms and infection with these worms could be one possible explanation for the low incidence of MS and other autoimmune diseases and allergies in less developed countries. Also involved in investigator-initiated, single-center and multicentre clinical trials.
