Background
Chronic post-traumatic headache (CPTH) attributed to mild head injury develops in 20-30% of patients with mild head trauma. The headache often mimics migraine, but migraine treatment has so far not been shown to be effective.
Current and future projects
Patients with CPTH undergo a systematic multidisciplinary treatment program for one year. The patients will be seen by neurologists, headache nurses, physiotherapists and psychologists in order to measure if headache frequency, concussion-symptoms, anxiety- and depression symptoms, insomnia symptoms, self-rated health and daily physical activity will improve after one year.
Patients with CPTH will participate in a placebo-controlled clinical trial investigating the effect of botulinum toxin-A compared to placebo.
