About us

The Research Unit for Womens and Childrens Health was founded in 2008 as a branch of the Juliane Marie Centre, a specialized centre of Rigshospitalet. The research unit was led by Hanne Kjærgaard until 2013, and in 2014 Professor Vibeke Zoffmann took over the leadership.

In the Research Unit for Womens and Childrens Health researchers with different health professional backgrounds are gathered in a research community on issues related to children, youth, women and families and their needs for prevention and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. The research is descriptive as well as experimental, and includes qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodological approaches. Intervention research that promotes a personal and family-centered approach in a highly specialized hospital is prioritized.

At the Research Unit for Womens and Childrens Health it is the intention to facilitate inspiration and exchange of experience among researchers of different specialties, backgrounds, and professions. The entire staff of the unit gathers for a monthly meeting, and the researchers take turns presenting their current projects, followed by a discussion of methods etc. Young researchers in the unit are supported through a network of Ph.d.-students and post.doc researchers.
