Professor Peter Damm
Peter Damm is a professor and consultant in Obstetrics at the Department of Obstetrics, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Together with professor Elisabeth R Mathiesen from Department of Endocrinology, Peter Damm is leading the Center for Pregnant Women with Diabetes.
His main research areas are:
- Pregnancy and diabetes
- Gestational diabetes (prevention, screening and diagnosis, treatment, long term consequenses for mother and child)
- Type 1 and type 2 diabetes (treatment, complications, long term consequenses for the child)
- Physical activity
- Overweight and obestity
Peter Damm has during the last few years received the two most prestigious awards within the field diabetes and pregnancy;
The Jørgen Pedersen Lecture by the Diabetic Pregnancy Study Group under the European Diabetes Association and
The Norbert Freinkel Award by the American Diabetes Association.
He has published more than 150 scientific articles and several book chapters.
