Postdoc Martin G Tolsgaard

​​Martin G. Tolsgaard is assistant professor and postdoctoral fellow at the Juliane Marie Centre and Centre for Clinical Education, Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

His main research areas are
  • Simulation in medical education
  • Transfer of skills from simulated- to clinical settings.
  • Using valid and reliable assessment of physicians’ competence in simulated and clinical settings.

Born 30th July 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and graduated as MD in 2009 from the University of Copenhagen. Attained the PhD degree from the University of Copenhagen in 2012 in the topic of clinical skills training in undergraduate medical education. Continued research within the field of post-graduate medical education as a postdoctoral research fellow with primary focus on simulation and clinical skills assessment.

Currently physician-member of the Ethical Committee for the Capital Region, Denmark and member of the 2013-2014 Innovation Task Force under the The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with the aim to establish credible standards for ultrasound training for healthcare providers in North America. Deputy editor of the peer-reviewed journal ‘Perspectives in Medical Education’.

He has published 11 scientific articles, 2 book chapters, and 12 presentations at international conference. He has given over 100 lectures on ultrasound training during formalized ultrasound courses and spent over 2000 hours of teaching basic clinical skills.
