VCT - The Knowledge Center for Transplantation.​​


​VCT was implemented in 2019, with the aim to strengthen the transversal structure and coordination of Rigshospitalet's transplantation program. In line with the VCT's objectives, we are responsible for maintaining a large database prospectively enrolling and collecting data on all transplants performed at our center (today recipients transplanted from 2010-2021 are registered). As part of our efforts, we aim to investigate the incidence, risk factors and clinical impact of post transplantation complications.​

​We have found that the incidence and type of infections depend on the type of organ transplantation, other underlying conditions in the recipient, such as diabetes, and possibly previous colonization with bacteria and infections. Furthermore, we have investigated the occurrence of cancer and a range of infections following transplantation, including bacteremia, COVID-19, influenza, pneumocystis, and enterococcal infections.​​
