About the Department of Cardiology

​​The department provides patients with expert medical management and a full range of therapies within cardiology.

​​

​Our areas of expertise make the department a national cardiac referral centre for other hospitals in the eastern part of Denmark on a 24/7 basis. 

We have a dedicated area for echocardiographic examinations, 8 catheterization suites, scanners for CT and MR investigations, 100 patient beds and large out-patient and research facilities. 75 medical doctors, 280 nurses and 50 other staff members are employed. Our patients come from all parts of Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.​

​The department consists of

  • Division of Ischemic heart disease. Acute and chronic ischemic heart disease (coronary artery disease). Section 2144 (acute cardiac care unit), section 3141/3142 (acute and chronic ischemic heart disease).
  • Division of Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension and Heart Transplantation.
