The Glostrup section of Dept. of Clinical Physiology, Nuclear Medicine and PET has a longstanding tradition for hypertension research.

In primary hypertension the focus is on pathogenetic mechanisms, particularly the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
In secondary hypertension the focus is on renovascular hypertension and primary aldosteronism.

We are currently working with contrast free MR-techniques to measure perfusion and oxygenation in the renal cortex and medulla (in collaboration with Functional Imaging Unit).
