
Karen Broendum-Nielsen is professor of clinical genetics –with special reference to chromosomal and congenital syndromes- at the University of Copenhagen, and senior consultant at the Kennedy Center, The Juliane Marie Centre, Rigshospitalet.

Her main research areas are:
- Genotype-phenotype correlations in syndromes with intellectual disability and/or autism, incl. the fragile X syndrome
- Cytogenetics and chromosomal disorders
- Genetics of visual impairment
She has contributed >200 international scientific papers, and >100 oral papers.
