Conditions and treatments at the Department of Vascular Surgery

Vascular disease includes pathological disorders of arteries and veins. Arterial disease is largely obstructive/thrombotic due to atherosclerosis or aneurysm.

Rarer conditions include arterial trauma, vasospastic and others. Atherosclerotic disease causes conditions that warrant treatment in the following areas: lower limbs (peripheral arterial disease), brain (carotid disease), arms, gut and kidneys.

Aneurysmatic disease affects the aorta, the arteries behind the knee (popliteal) and the groin (femoral).
Venous disease includes varicose veins, acute and chronic venous obstruction.
