Current projects at the Department of Cardiology

​​The Heart Centre participates in many international research projects, and patients are often asked to participate in clinical trials.
​​These trials range from small mechanistic trials to international multicenter trials. The clinical following studies have key involvement from Rigshospitalet:

  • DANISH is being run from Rigshospitalet and is a national ICD study in patients with heart failure. Principal investigators are Dr Steen Pehrson and Prof Lars Køber​.
  • EDITORS consists of three studies of patients with acute myocardial infarction, testing different revascularisation strategies as well as the diagnostic and prognostic value of acute multislice CT-scanning. Principal investigators are Dr Klaus Fuglsang Kofoed and Prof Lars Køber 
  • The DISCOVERY Trial (Diagnostic Data Influence on Disease Management and Relation of Genetic Polymorphisms to Ventricular Tachy-arrhythmias in ICD Patients). Danish principal investigator Prof Jesper Hastrup Svendsen
  • MSC- CHF trial - Bone marrow derived mesen​chymal stromal cell treatment of patients with heart failure. Principal investigator Prof Jens Kastrup
  • MyStromalCell - Adipose derived stem cell treatment of patients with refractory angina. Principal investigator Prof Jens Kastrup
  • The VOLCANO trial. Valve replacement in patients with severe aOrtic vaLve stenosis comparing transCAtheter and surgical implaNtatiOn. A National randomized clinical trial of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) compared with co​nventional surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). Among these are:

CopenHeart - an extensive rehabilitation program for patients with complex cardiac diseases. Principal investigator: Selina Kikkenborg Berg, RN, PhD.
