January 2017 / 14:10 Big data enables new treatment of aggressive cancers Researchers from the Finsen Laboratory and BRIC in collaboration with researchers from Germany and Norway have developed a new computational method for analysis of large data material from thousands of cancer patients. These ‘big data’ can be used to understand how cancer genes are activated which enables targeted therapy especially for patients with aggressive tumours 22. November 2016 / 9:00 Researchers develop antibody to save cancerous bones A research group lead by Dr. Niels Behrendt and Dr. Lars Engelholm from the Finsen Laboratory and BRIC shows that Osteosarcoma cells degrade the bone tissue through a completely different process than metastasised bone cancer. Through treatment with a specific antibody, the researchers blocked the process and reduced up to 80% of bone degradation in a cancer mouse model. 4. December 2015 / 12:00 Stem-cell protein guarantees life-long blood production A group of researchers at the Finsen Laboratory, Rigshospitalet and BRIC, University of Copenhagen has discovered how a single protein within our blood stem cells, is critical for the ability to uphold the enormous blood production throughout our entire lifetime. The discovery can also provide new knowledge about how to treat diseases in our bone marrow and blood. 22.
