Areas of research​

Gastrointestinal function
Research activities focus on gastrointestinal function, in particular the importance of the colon for energy absorption in patients with intestinal resections or short bowel syndrome. ​Also studies on mineral metabolism and secondary osteoporosis are currently being performed. 

Liver failure
  • Pathophysiology of acute and chronic liver failure.
  • Development and evaluation of liver replacement therapy in patients with liver failure.
  • Improving treatment of patients with liver failure as a consequence of chronic as well as acute liver diseases.
  • Inflammatory response in alcoholic hepatitis.

All research activities are carried out in collaboration with University of Copenhagen.
