The ambition is to create a setting where births at the hospital will occur as if it took place at home – this means in homelike surroundings but within a setting that can adapt to a situation that could at some point become critical and in that case where expertise and a lot of professional equipment is needed. It is the difficult balance we wish to develop and build.
We want to create a setting where there is always room for family – both before, during and after birth. And we wish to keep the mother and child together at all times – even if one or both of them suffers an illness.
The project’s working group
A working group works with the setting of births in the future hospital of children, adolescents and women in labour. The task is to investigate and present how the maternity ward psychically should be organised in order to optimise patient care of the women in labour based on the following considerations: the user experience, the personnel’s working procedures and the maternity ward’s spatial set-up and functions.
