Welcome to Clinic for Spinal Cord Injuries

Scope of Care

  1. Aim: The Clinic for Spinal Cord Injuries is primarily a centre at international level for treatment, education, and research and development for spinal cord lesioned individuals.
  2. The Clinic for Spinal Cord Injuries (Spinal Unit) admit patients with traumatic and non pro-gressive, non traumatic spinal cord lesions. Doctors from the clinic are involved with the treatment already at the Department of Neurosurgery and in the continued treatment and rehabilitation process at Hornbaek. There is frequent consultation with other units with specialists in urology, gastroenterology, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, handsurgery, neurosurgery, neurology, respiratory centre as well as clinical neurophysiology, clinical biochemistry, radiology/MRI/CT, nuclear medicine, clinical microbiology, etc. The department has inpatient facility with 45 beds in Hornbaek and outpatient clinic in Hornbaek and the neuroambulatorium 2001, 9 Blegdamsvej, Copenhagen.
  3. The Clinic works multidisciplinary with involvement of nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, and doctors. Documentation from all groups except the nursing staff is gradually performed in an electronic database record (SCI-Base).

Various preventive measures; not least for pressure sores.
