The Fertility Clinic

The Fertility Clinic, Rigshospitalet is a clinic within the national Danish Health System. Therefore the clinic is committed to treat Danish residents covered by our National Health System. The Fertility Clinic at Rigshospitalet offers all modern forms of fertility treatment, ranging from intrauterine insemination to prenatal genetic diagnosis. In addition, the clinic offers investigation of causes for recurrent miscarriages and treatment of couples with this condition. According to Danish law we can offer treatment to couples (both heterosexual and lesbian) and single women. It is a requirement that the couple has no mutual children, and the woman receiving treatment should be under 40 years of age.

A short summary of our activities in 2006:
We have started over 2000 treatments and 457 achieved a live pregnancy. Our results have been good, even though we continue replacing fewer and fewer embryos per transfer. More than 50% of our IVF and ICSI patients now get 1 embryo replaced. The number of multiple pregnancies is now down to 10% after in vitro fertilisation. Our results with frozen embryo replacement are stable and 18% of all treatments resulting in an ongoing pregnancy. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis has developed and we are satisfied with this years’ result of 5 ongoing pregnancies after 31 started cycles. Our treatment program for HIV and hepatitis B or C (HBV/HCV) positive patients has been established in 2006 and we can now offer intrauterine insemination, In vitro fertilisation and Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection.
