The Hospital Plan JMC

In 2007 the government structure of Denmark changed with a reduction of the municipalities as a consequence. The counties were eliminated and the country was devided into five new regions. One is the Capital Region of Denmark, which Rigshospitalet is a part of.

The Hospital Plan for the Capital Region
The hospital plan for the Capital Region is a plan for creating a truly unified regional health service. The aim of the Hospital Plan for the Capital Region is to enable the region to optimise performance and effectively utilize the financial resources employed. The plan is to do that
by:

bringing the functions together at fewer locations resulting in operational savings,

and by

simplifying the administrative and managerial organization resulting in liberation of resources that can be used for clinical work.

The Capital Region wishes to gather the specialities in fewer locations with the aim of ensuring a high and uniform quality.

For the functions and specialities at The Juliane Marie Center, the Hospital Plan will influence:

Obstetric and Gynaechological specialities
- The obstetric functions at Frederiksberg Hospital and Gentofte Hospital will during the next 5-7 years merge with Rigshospitalet and be placed at Rigshospitalet.

Status 2010
The Maternity Ward at Frederiksberg Hospital was closed in 2010. Pregnant women from Frederiksberg are to deliver at Rigshospitalet.

The gynaecological functions of Frederiksberg Hospital and Gentofte Hospital were merged into a specialized unit of gynaecological surgery at Gentofte Hospital. A unit that is a part of the Juliane Marie Center, Rigshospitalet. A satelite function.

The gynaechological and obstetrical functions of Gentofte Hospital will be closed in 2011 and merged with the functions at Herlev Hospital, Hvidovre Hospital and Rigshospitalet.

Peadiatric specialities
- The paediatric function at Gentofte Hospital will according to the hospital plan be merged with the paediatric functions at Rigshospitalet.

Status 2010
The Capital Region has now suggested, that
The peadiatric specialities at Gentofte Hospital will be closed during 2011 and merged with the peadiatric functions at Hillerød Hospital, Hvidovre Hospital and Rigshospitalet.
