Tissue Typing Laboratory - Clinical Immunology

Scope of Care

  • Clinical Immunology laboratory services for diagnoses and treatment of patients, research and development and education.
  • Most investigations and functions of the Tissue Typing Laboratory are provided for all patients in Denmark and a minor part for all patients in East-Denmark.
  • HLA class I and II typing and matching:
    • Donor and recipient selection, screening and cross matching for solid organ transplanta-tion and bone marrow transplantation
    • Diagnostic HLA typing in diseases
    • Drug related HLA typing
    • The East-Danish Bone Marrow donors Registry
  • Pre- and post transplant monitoring for bone marrow transplantation:
    • Immune competence
    • Chimaerism
    • Minimal residual disease (MRD)
  • HPA platelet gene typing and anti-platelet antibody screening and specificity detection.
  • Immunodeficiency: screening and diagnosis; monitoring of treatment; using:
    • CD markers (flow cytometry)
    • Lymphocyte stimulation
    • MBL (Mannose-Binding Lectin): gene typing and serum concentration
    • Complement functions
    • Somatic hypermutation
  • Leukaemia: diagnosis and monitoring of treatment; using:
    • CD-markers
    • Gene rearrangement (Ig, TCR)
    • MRD using patient-specific gene-rearrangements
    • Detection and quantification of translocation transcripts

  • Comprehensive external and internal proficiency testing programs for all accreditated areas
  • ASHI (American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics) Accreditation (since 1994). Requires renewal annually.
