Department of Neurology
Neurological disorders include pathological conditions of the brain, brainstem, spinal cord and peripheral nerves due to a variety of diseases of different etiologies.
The Department of Neurology at Rigshospitalet is one of the largest neurology departments in Denmark. The department is highly specialised in multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, memory disorders, and epilepsia, including evaluation and treatment of patients candidating for surgery. The department also provides endovascular services for acute stroke and elective vascular interventions. Our expertise and volumes of treatment in these areas is considerable and these provide an important resource for research activities, namely for development of new treatments, basic and clinical research.
The department’s inpatient service includes a highly specialized division of intensive and acute neurology as well as sections dedicated to stroke-patients, patients with neuro-muscular diseases and other neurology disorders.
