Department of Diagnostic Radiology
The Department of Diagnostic Radiology is subdivided into five sections
- Neuro-orthopedic radiology/magnetic resonance imaging
- Thoracic-abdominal examinations
- Ultrasound
- Clinical and screening mammography
- Endovascular and interventional radiology
The work of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology shows that Rigshospitalet is a highly specialised hospital and a majority of patients are referred directly from its wards and outpatient departments. The main department is concentrated in the 16 storey building, but also has a smaller satellite for outpatients with conventional radiology just outside the hospital, a satellite with equipment for CT and conventional radiology at the emergency unit of the Trauma centre, and finally a section for mammography screening at Bispebjerg and Hvidovre Hospitals, also situated in Copenhagen.
The department has been digitalised with RIS and PACS 1996 to 2001.
- About 200,000 examinations are performed each year, excluding screening mammographies.
